Big changes are afoot on the OrionRobots website. We will (For the first time in our history) be moving to a third party hosting system - as opposed to being hosted on a server in my lounge.

It means that while things are transferred, and DNS settings catch up, that there may be gaps in service.

This however will avoid the potential for the larger disruptions that will have occured when we moved - shutting down the site for days or weeks. Expect a couple of hours downtime between now and may, but I have ducked to avoid the worst of it.

On the upside, we should see improved spam protection and faster access. Also. by leaving the sysadmin tasks (upgrading stuff, keeping the spam settings up to date, making sure the server doesnt go down, sorting out backups etc) to someone else, it will leave me more free time to write articals and blogs and of course build robots.

So bear with us - it will all be worth it in the end!
Cheers,
Orion

Right - we have now taken the plunge. All our data is over on the pipex webfusion servers - and the DNS is now pointed there. With thanks to troggg and mose of the tikiwiki crew, I got the database and site running.

Data changes made between 12 yesterday and today (votes, posts and stats) have not made it across - but I did scan for anything important and nothing came up.

Currently the two video files I stored for Steve Hassenplug have been removed from the file gallery - they were too big for the database settings for this server, and I will put them in a directory on the server instead.

Email still has issues - some of which may not be easily resolved.
I am currently adding the old accounts to the new server - however, your old stored email will not be coming with you - sorry. For now, those of you from the old system can retreive old email by pointing your browser at http://serverus.orionrobots.co.uk/squirrelmail. I suggest you save those emails. Those who use tikiwiki to handle their email will be fine - their old emails will still be in the tiki db. There may be some email accounts and aliases I have overlooked when migrating - please feel free to respond to this and point them out - as this forum is moderated by me, I will see your responses, but will not make them public.

The old redirects have currently gone, and those will eventually need to be built in some other way - as I do not have access to the apache virtual host settings at webfusion, that will come in time. In the meantime - please try to make sure your links into OrionRobots are up to date.

Let me know if there are any other problems - we are definately expecting at least a few.
